Habitat:
Infrequent in the wet ecotone between tamarack swamp in a small basin and mesic hardwood forest on a north-facing slope. Interrupted canopy of Fraxinus nigra, Larix laricina, Betula papyrifera, Ulmus americana, and Populus balsamifera. Tall understory includes Viburnum lentago, V. trilobum, and Quercus macrocarpa. Wet muck. Cespitose.
