Habitat:
Sporadic in the wet ecotone between tamarack swamp in a small basin and mesic hardwood forest on a north-facing slope. Interrupted canopy of Fraxinus nigra, Larix laricina, Betula papyrifera, Ulmus americana, and Populus balsamifera. Tall understory includes Viburnum lentago, V. trilobum, and Quercus macrocarpa. Wet mucky soil. Loose clumps.
