Locality: United States, Minnesota, Todd, Grey Eagle State Wildlife Management Area. Gently sloping to rather strongly rolling forested terrain 4.5 miles west of Burtrum.

Habitat: Common on a moderately steep, 40-foot, north-facing slope. Narrow strip of mesic hardwood forest dominated by Quercus rubra, Q. macrocarpa, and Populus tremuloides. Dense subcanopy of Ostrya virginiana. Silty-loam. Dense clumps and rather dense colonies, especially on lower to mid-slope.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex pensylvanica, C. deweyana, C. convoluta, Oryzopsis asperifolia, Desmodium glutinosum, Cryptotaenia canadensis, Asarum canadense, Osmorhiza claytonii, Solidago flexicaulis, Pyrola elliptica, Uvularia sessilifolia, U. grandiflora, Sanicula gregaria, S. marilandica.
