Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain along the Canadian border 20 miles north of Ely, on a low bedrock islet in Saturday Bay, Crooked Lake.

Verbatim Elevation: 1250 feet
Habitat: Very local. Forming dense patches in level to gently sloping settings ~2-4 feet above lake level (island rises ~4 feet). Full sun to partial shade of Acer saccharinum, Aronia melanocarpa, Spiraea alba, Ilex verticillata, Myrica gale, and Fraxinus pennsylvanica. In thin soil and along crevices in the granitic rock. Fruits turning red, mealy with a very subtle, sweet flavor.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Prunus susquehanae, Salix petiolaris, Carex katahdinensis, Agrostis scabra, Oenothera perennis, Lycopus uniflorus, Hypericum majus.
