Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain along the Canadian border 20 miles north of Ely, near the shore of Saturday Bay, Crooked Lake.

Verbatim Elevation: 1250 feet
Habitat: Locally abundant. In the ecotone between a vernal hardwood swamp and a flat, low-lying, granitic shoreline outcrop. Patchy canopy includes Fraxinus pennsylvanica and Acer saccharinum. Patchy understory includes Alnus incana and Ilex verticillata. Mostly in full sun. Loose to dense clumps/patches, often in moss carpets (Polytrichum, Thuidium, Climacium). Shallow organic soil over bedrock.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Hieracium kalmii, Rubus pubescens, Botrychium multifidum, Rosa acicularis, Carex katahdinensis.
