United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain along the Canadian border 20 miles north of Ely, on a small bedrock islet in Saturday Bay, Crooked Lake.

Habitat:
Very local. Small, loose patches along large crevices in the rounded, little-fractured, and sparsely-vegetated granitic rock. Rooting in thin strips of sand and organic matter; some plants in small, shallow, ephemeral pools. Level to gently sloping settings ~18-36 inches above the lake on an island that rises ~3 feet at its highest point (lake level is down ~12 inches from the early season high mark). Full sun. Several dozen plants total. Cespitose annual.
