Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to moderately rugged bedrock terrain 19 miles north of Ely, along the lower reaches of Bunggee Creek, just south of Saturday Bay, Crooked Lake.

Habitat: Locally common. Fairly dense, small patches occur between moss-covered boulders in clear, shallow water (~4-12 inches deep) with a moderate current (subtle rapids here). Partial shade of Alnus incana and Betula papyrifera growing on the banks of the narrow creek. The rounded upper leaves are floating, the rest of the plant is fully submerged.
Associated Species: Associates include Torreyochloa pallida var. fernaldii, Sparganium emersum, Lysimachia terrestris.
