United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. On the shore of Sunday Bay, Crooked Lake, in rolling to rather rugged bedrock terrain 20 miles north of Ely.

Habitat:
Locally common in a vernal ash swamp bordering the south end of a long, narrow, and fairly shallow bay. Canopy of large Fraxinus nigra, with occasional Acer saccharinum, Abies balsamea, and Picea mariana. Shrub layer includes Alnus incana, Spiraea alba. Partial sun to full shade. Wet muck over gravelly clay. Clumps.

Clumps. Additional associates include Carex tuckermanii, C. crinita, C. vesicaria, C. intumescens, C. retrorsa, Glyceria striata, Poa palustris, Matteuccia struthiopteris, Equisetum arvense, E. sylvaticum, Onoclea sensibilis, Iris versicolor, Persicaria sagittata.
