United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. On the shore of Sunday Bay, Crooked Lake, in rolling to rather rugged bedrock terrain 20 miles north of Ely.

Habitat:
Local in a narrow, wet ecotone between a narrow shoreline marsh and a vernal ash swamp, in the back of a long narrow bay. Canopy of large Fraxinus nigra, with occasional Acer saccharinum, Abies balsamea, and Picea mariana. Shrub layer includes Alnus incana, Spiraea alba. Partial sun to full shade. Wet muck. Small but rather dense patches.

Additional associates include Carex tuckermanii, C. vesicaria, C. intumescens, C. crinita, C. arcta, Glyceria striata, Caltha palustris, Persicaria sagittata, Rubus pubescens, Iris versicolor, Mimulus ringens, Aster puniceus.
