Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Along the shore of Stuart Lake, in rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain 21 miles north-northwest of Ely.

Habitat: Frequent in shallow lenses of coarse sand and gravel along large crevices in rounded and nearly level granitic bedrock that forms the lakeshore at the first campsite south of the portage to Fox Lake. In the wave-wash zone just above lake level, at the mouth of a subtle ephemeral drainage (brisk stream flow a few hours after an all-night rain deluge). Amongst patches of a robust aquatic moss. Full sun to partial shade. Forming dense clumps.
Associated Species: Associates include Aster lanceolatus, Lysimachia terrestris.
