Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain along the Canadian border 22 miles north of Ely, in the northern portion of Sunday Bay, Crooked Lake.

Verbatim Elevation: 1255 feet
Habitat: Locally common on a small island. Loose patches on a rather extensive, gently sloping, granitic shelf perched ~4-8 feet above the lake. Dense, robust clumps rooting in shallow detrital soil over dry bedrock. Amongst mats of lichens and mosses (Cladina spp., Polytrichum sp., Hedwigia ciliata, etc.). Full sun.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Corydalis sempervirens, Euthamia graminifolia, Selaginella rupestris, Carex scoparia, Agrostis scabra, Deschampsia cespitosa.
