Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Along the Beartrap River in rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain southwest of Sunday Bay, Crooked Lake, 19 miles north of Ely, downstream from Sunday Lake, along a ~one mile reach of slack water flowage ~centered on the mouth of Sterling Creek.

Habitat: Occasional to locally abundant in quite broad expanses of riparian marsh downstream. Forming dense patches in a habitat that is mostly dominated by Sparganium emersum. Wet, buoyant peat. Full sun.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Dulichium arundinaceum, Carex lasiocarpa, Sagittaria latifolia, Triadenum fraseri, Cicuta bulbifera.
