United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to moderately rugged bedrock terrain 21 miles north-northwest of Ely, just north of Stuart Lake.

Habitat:
Local on the margins of a 16-acre beaver meadow. Dating to the mid-1960's, the dam was last breached (and pond drained) before 1990. Moist settings near the forested upland. Grey clay with a silty-organic cap. Specimens collected from the upper branches of a ~40-foot tall, ~12-inch D.B.H. tree. This species is quite uncommon in the general vicinity.

Associates include Calamagrostis canadensis, Carex lacustris, Cirsium arvense, Lysimachia terrestris, Viola incognita, Rubus pubescens, R. strigosus, Picea mariana, Alnus incana.
