United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to moderately rugged bedrock terrain 21 miles north-northwest of Ely, just north of Stuart Lake.

Habitat:
Quite local along the margins of a 16-acre beaver meadow. Dating to the mid-1960's, the dam was last breached (and pond drained) before 1990. Partial sun to full shade of Picea mariana, Pinus strobus, and Betula papyrifera. Moist settings at the edge of the surrounding forested upland. Gray clay with a silty-organic cap, and sometimes in carpets of Sphagnum angustifolium. Two small colonies encountered.

Associates include Dryopteris cristata, Calamagrostis canadensis, Lysimachia terrestris, Lycopus uniflorus, Persicaria amphibia, Rubus strigosus.
