Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to moderately rugged bedrock terrain 19 miles north of Ely, along a small drainage south of Saturday Bay, Crooked Lake.

Elevation: 387 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1270 feet

Habitat: Very local on the margin of an old beaver meadow. Narrow ecotonal zone between the Calamagrostis canadensis-dominated meadow and the adjacent forested upland. Full sun to partial shade of Picea mariana and Larix laricina. Loose patch of a few hundred upright shoots. Horizontal subterranean stems run beneath thick moss carpets, further buried ~2 inches deep in loamy organic soil.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Vaccinium myrtilloides, Equisetum sylvaticum, Lycopodium clavatum, Lycopus uniflorus, Lysimachia terrestris, Aster umbellatus.
