Common in a sedge meadow recovering from long past beaver flooding, in a fairly broad wetland depression along a small drainage. Buoyant wet peat. Forming loose patches in carpets of Sphagnum angustifolium, especially on taller hummocks. Mostly in full sun (to partial shade of widely scattered Larix laricina).
Additional associates include Carex lacustris, C. utriculata, Triadenum fraseri, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Epilobium leptophyllum, Calla palustris. Small dark seeds (~1.2-1.4 mm) produced by one of the duplicates.
