Habitat:
Occasional in a small mesic to wet-mesic prairie remnant. Deep black loam. Full sun. Loose groups of culms, somewhat cespitose and subtly hummock-forming.
Associated Species:
Associates include Carex tetanica, C. buxbaumii, C. pellita, Poa pratensis, Andropogon gerardii, Galium boreale, Sisyrinchium campestre, Pedicularis canadensis, Lathyrus palustris, Cirsium muticum, Cicuta maculata, Hypoxis hirsuta, Solidago canadensis, Zizia aurea. Becomes fairly abundant and more strongly hummock-forming in the adjacent sedge meadow / willow swamp.
