Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. In Papoose Creek between Chippewa and Papoose Lakes, in rolling to rather rugged bedrock terrain 17 miles north of Ely.

Habitat: Common to locally abundant in the rather narrow, boggy, slack-water flowage. Entirely submerged in dark, tannin-stained (coffee-colored) water that is ~5-6 feet deep here. Very soft and deep unconsolidated mucky-organic substrate. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Utricularia vulgaris, Brasenia schreberi, Nymphaea tuberosa.
