Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. In the eastern end of Chippewa Lake, in rolling to rather rugged bedrock terrain 17 miles north of Ely.

Habitat: Locally common near a small shoreline meadow. Forming fairly dense patches in water ~3-4 feet deep. Entirely submerged in clear water. Rather soft to moderately firm mucky organic substrate. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Sparganium fluctuans, Brasenia schreberi, Nuphar variegata, Nymphaea tuberosa, Schoenoplectus subterminalis.
