United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. On the boggy eastern shore of Ritual Lake, in rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain 17 miles north of Ely.
Infrequent to quite locally abundant in a quite broad shoreline poor fen, but restricted to albeit rather large zones that are subtly lower and wetter. Loose to rather dense and often fairly extensive patches occur amongst other low-statured vegetation, in settings mostly ~50-150 feet from the edge of the lake. Interrupted Sphagnum carpets. Wet buoyant peat. Full sun.
Associates include Rhynchospora alba, Pogonia ophioglossoides, Drosera rotundifolia, Vaccinium macrocarpon, and stunted Myrica gale, Chamaedaphne calyculata, and Kalmia polifolia.
