Locality:
United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. On the boggy eastern shore of Ritual Lake, in rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain 17 miles north of Ely.

Habitat:
Locally quite abundant in a broad shoreline poor fen. Rather dense and often extensive patches of somewhat stunted plants occur amongst other low-statured vegetation, in subtly lower and wetter settings mostly ~50-150 feet from the edge of the lake. Larger plants occur within a few feet of the lake. Sphagnum carpets. Buoyant saturated peat. Full sun.
Associated Species:
Associates include Rhynchospora alba, Lycopodiella inundata, Pogonia ophioglossoides, Drosera rotundifolia, and frequently stunted Kalmia polifolia, Myrica gale, and Chamaedaphne calyculata.
