Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. On the southern end of a fairly large peatland surrounding Ritual Lake, in rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain 17 miles north of Ely.

Elevation: 390 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1280 feet

Habitat: Locally common in a ~transitional area between poor black spruce swamp and somewhat richer tamarack-alder swamp. Partial sun to full shade below stunted Picea mariana, as well as non-stunted Alnus incana and Larix laricina. Deep, saturated peat. Continuous Sphagnum carpets.

Associated Taxa: Additional associates include Chamaedaphne calyculata, Ledum groenlandicum, Vaccinium oxycoccos.
