Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain 20 miles north-northwest of Ely, along the margin of a 1/2-acre bog pond, in a small peatland east of Stuart Lake, midway between Fox and Bibon Lakes.

Habitat: Local, sporadic to quite locally abundant in a narrow zone of poor sedge fen bordering the pond. Continuous Sphagnum carpets. Very buoyant and quite wet peat. Full sun. Forms loose to rather dense small colonies.
Associated Species: Associates include low-statured Andromeda glaucophylla, Chamaedaphne calyculata, and Kalmia polifolia, also Eriophorum virginicum, Rhynchospora alba, Carex limosa, C. lasiocarpa, Drosera intermedia, Pogonia ophioglossoides, Scheuchzeria palustris, Menyanthes trifoliata.
