Locality:
United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Strongly rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain ten miles north-northeast of Ely. Local in the western portion of Jackfish Bay, Basswood Lake.

Habitat:
A couple loose patches, each with a few hundred fertile culms, along the shore of a small island. Rooting in firm gravelly substrate amongst rounded granitic rocks and boulders; in water up to ~3 feet deep. Full sun. Specimen somewhat atypical- many (most?) styles 2-parted.
Associated Species:
Associates include Bolboschoenus fluviatilis, Scirpus atrovirens, Eleocharis palustris, Equisetum fluviatile, Persicaria amphibia, Littorella uniflora. Specimen somewhat atypical- many (most?) styles 2-parted.
