United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. On the shores of Basswood Lake in fairly rugged bedrock terrain ten miles north-northeast of Ely, in the southwestern portion of Jackfish Bay.
Infrequent and quite local along the lakeshore. Occurring at and just above the upper end of the wave-wash zone, ~12-18 inches above lake level (currently near the spring high mark, up due to recent heavy rains). Shallow substrate, ranging from loamy organics to coarse sand, over boulders and fairly level granitic bedrock. Four colonies encountered, two of these on small islands. 100-150 mostly rather robust clumps. Full sun to partial shade.
Associates include Spiraea alba, Lycopus uniflorus, Lysimachia terrestris, L. ciliata, Triadenum fraseri.
