Habitat:
Quite local on the margin of a small upland rise in a large peatland. Scattered loose clumps in the ecotone between the surrounding poor conifer swamp and the upland conifer woodland. Shaded below scattered Picea mariana, and rather dense Alnus incana and Salix pyrifolia. In Sphagnum carpets, on moist, low hummocks.
