Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. On the shores of Basswood Lake in fairly rugged bedrock terrain ten miles north-northeast of Ely, within a couple hundred feet of the southwest shore of Jackfish Bay, Basswood Lake.

Elevation: 402 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1320 feet

Habitat: Infrequent, forming small patches along a small, intermittent stream. Shaded beneath patchy canopy of Fraxinus nigra and Populus tremuloides, and a fairly dense, tall understory of Acer spicatum and scattered Alnus incana. Rather shallow loamy soil over granitic bedrock; in gently sloping moist settings within a few feet of the stream.

Associated Taxa: Additional associates include Athyrium angustum, Equisetum sylvaticum, Maianthemum canadense, Viola incognita, Carex gracillima, C. leptonervia, C. brunnescens, Ribes triste.
