United States, Minnesota, Otter Tail, Strongly rolling moraine along the Dead River northwest of Otter Tail Lake, at the edge of Davies State Wildlife Management Area six miles southwest of Richville, seven miles west-northwest of Ottertail.

Habitat:
Occasional to frequent in a narrow strip of ash swamp near the base of a steep, 25-foot, north-facing slope. Co-dominant very locally with Fraxinus nigra in patchy canopy. Several mature trees (12-15 inches D.B.H.), and numerous saplings in the tall understory. Moist to wet, highly-decomposed organic soil, likely influenced by groundwater seepage. Specimen from upper branches of a 30-foot tall, 9-inch D.B.H. tree.

Additional associates include Rhamnus alnifolia, Ribes triste, Carex interior, Mitella nuda, Caltha palustris, Impatiens capensis, Stellaria longifolia.
