Habitat:
Locally quite abundant in wet-mesic hardwood forest. Canopy is dominated by Fraxinus pennsylvanica. Understory includes Ulmus americana, Tilia americana, and Rhamnus cathartica. Shade to partial sun. Level setting ~3 feet above the elevation of the lake. Loamy soil. Very robust clumps here, with dozens of culms (some 100+); frequently forming patches.
