Locality:
United States, Minnesota, Todd, Battle Point County Park. On the shores of Lake Osakis at Battle Point, on rolling terrain five miles north-northeast of downtown Osakis, just south of the boat landing parking lot.

Habitat:
Locally quite abundant in wet-mesic hardwood forest. Canopy is dominated by Fraxinus pennsylvanica. Understory includes Ulmus americana, Tilia americana, and Rhamnus cathartica. Shade to partial sun. Level setting ~3 feet above the elevation of the lake. Loamy soil. Very robust clumps here, with dozens of culms (some 100+); frequently forming patches.

Additional associates include Carex assiniboinensis, C. stipata, Acer negundo, Ribes americanum, R. missouriense, Smilacina stellata, Impatiens capensis, Galium triflorum.
