Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain along the Stuart River between Swamp and Jerry Creeks, 16 miles north-northwest of Ely.

Habitat: Occasional to locally common along a portage trail thru old growth mixed deciduous-coniferous woodland dominated by mature Populus tremuloides, Pinus banksiana, and Picea mariana. Patchy understory includes Abies balsamea. Small and loose to rather dense patches occur in wet areas along the trail. Moist to quite wet, rocky, mucky, silt and clay. Partial sun.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Juncus tenuis, Glyceria striata, Carex xknieskernii, Prunella vulgaris, Alnus incana.
