Locality: United States, Minnesota, Wadena, Along the Crow Wing River near Anderson's Crossing, on gently rolling drumlin plain four miles north of Nimrod, eleven miles southeast of Menahga.

Habitat: Local in jack pine woodland. Partial shade beneath a patchy canopy of Pinus banksiana, with scattered Betula papyrifera in the understory. Deep sand, often carpeted with dense Pleurozium schreberi. Small loose patches.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex pensylvanica, Oryzopsis pungens, Poa pratensis, Lithospermum canescens, Viola adunca, Lathyrus venosus, Maianthemum canadense, Anemone quinquefolia, Pedicularis canadensis, Antennaria howellii, Vaccinium angustifolium.
