United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Sundial Lake Primitive Management Area. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain east of White Feather Lake, west of the Beartrap River, 17 miles north-northwest of Ely, on the boggy western shore of Sundial Lake.

Habitat:
Local, occasional to frequent in a broad zone of poor sedge fen, though mostly within a few feet of the water's edge. Buoyant, saturated peat. Full sun.

Associates include Rhynchospora alba, Carex lasiocarpa, C. michauxiana, C. limosa, Dulichium arundinaceum, Pogonia ophioglossoides, Scheuchzeria palustris, Drosera intermedia, Iris versicolor, Utricularia cornuta, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Chamaedaphne calyculata.
