Locality: United States, Minnesota, Todd, Burleene State Wildlife Management Area. Large peatland complex on level to gently rolling outwash plain 7.5 miles southwest of Clarissa, 11 miles west of Browerville.

Habitat: Local in young tamarack swamp (transitional to the adjacent patterned rich fen). Partial shade beneath short, patchy canopy of immature Larix laricina, and patchy shrub layer of Betula pumila. Deep, saturated, slightly buoyant peat. Loose colony of small clumps.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex lasiocarpa, C. interior, C. diandra, C. pseudocyperus, C. disperma, Equisetum fluviatile, Thelypteris palustris, Galium labradoricum, Smilacina trifolia, Aster borealis, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Stellaria longifolia, Cardamine pratensis, Rhamnus alnifolia.
