Locality: United States, Minnesota, Todd, Burleene State Wildlife Management Area. Large peatland complex on level to gently rolling outwash plain 7.5 miles southwest of Clarissa, 11 miles west of Browerville.

Habitat: Uncommon in young tamarack swamp (transitional to the adjacent patterned rich fen). Partial shade beneath short, patchy Larix laricina. Deep, saturated, buoyant peat. Loose clumps on tree-base hummocks and similar raised microsites.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Betula pumila, Carex disperma, C. leptalea, C. lasiocarpa, C. diandra, Calamagrostis canadensis, Thelypteris palustris, Galium labradoricum, Smilacina trifolia, Cardamine pratensis, Campanula aparinoides, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Caltha palustris.
