Locality: United States, Minnesota, Todd, Burleene State Wildlife Management Area. Large peatland complex on level to gently rolling outwash plain 7.5 miles southwest of Clarissa, 11 miles west of Browerville.

Habitat: Infrequent in young tamarack swamp (transitional to the adjacent patterned rich fen). Partial shade beneath short, patchy Larix laricina. Deep, saturated, buoyant peat. Dense clumps, mostly on tree-base hummocks and similar raised microsites.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex disperma, C. interior, C. magellanica, C. lasiocarpa, C. diandra, Calamagrostis canadensis, Thelypteris palustris, Galium labradoricum, Smilacina trifolia, Cardamine pratensis, Campanula aparinoides, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Caltha palustris, Betula pumila.
