United States, Minnesota, Todd, Burleene State Wildlife Management Area. Large peatland complex on level to gently rolling outwash plain 7.5 miles southwest of Clarissa, 11 miles west of Browerville.

Habitat:
Uncommon in strings dominated by stunted Betula pumila and occasional Larix laricina. Full sun to partial shade. Deep, saturated, slightly buoyant peat. Maroon color on lower stem.

Additional associates include Carex echinata, C. lasiocarpa, Equisetum fluviatile, Thelypteris palustris, Typha xglauca, Smilacina trifolia, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Potentilla palustris, Cornus stolonifera, Salix pedicellaris, S. candida.
