Locality: United States, Minnesota, Todd, Burleene State Wildlife Management Area. Large peatland complex on level to gently rolling outwash plain 7.5 miles southwest of Clarissa, 11 miles west of Browerville.

Habitat: Co-dominant very locally (with Carex lasiocarpa) in patterned rich fen. Deep, wet, buoyant peat. Full sun. Moderately dense patch of hundreds of fertile culms.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex diandra, C. buxbaumii, Eriophorum gracile, Betula pumila, Salix petiolaris, S. serissima.
