United States, Minnesota, Todd, Burleene State Wildlife Management Area. Large peatland complex on level to gently rolling outwash plain 7.5 miles southwest of Clarissa, 11 miles west of Browerville.

Habitat:
Common in a strip of hardwood swamp, in a broad ecotone between patterned rich peatland (sedge fen and tamarack swamp) and mesic hardwood forest on the nearby upland. Canopy of young Fraxinus nigra, with scattered Quercus macrocarpa. Shallow wet peat. Partial shade. Dense hummocky clumps.

Additional associates include Carex lacustris, C. normalis, Glyceria striata, Calamagrostis canadensis, Phalaris arundinacea, Equisetum arvense, E. fluviatile, Impatiens capensis, Scutellaria lateriflora, Toxicodendron rydbergii.
