Locality: United States, Minnesota, Todd, Burleene State Wildlife Management Area. On level to gently rolling outwash plain 7.5 miles southwest of Clarissa, 11 miles west of Browerville.

Habitat: On an 80-acre "island" that rises a few feet above a large peatland complex. Common in an ecotonal zone of rich wet-mesic hardwood forest near the surrounding wetland. Canopy of Tilia americana, Fraxinus nigra, Quercus rubra, and Q. macrocarpa, with Ostrya virginiana and Ulmus americana in the understory. Moist organic silt. Loose clumps and small carpets.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex gracillima, C. deweyana, C. radiata, C. pedunculata, C. pensylvanica, Festuca subverticillata, Equisetum sylvaticum, E. arvense, Uvularia grandiflora, Geranium maculatum.
