Locality: United States, Minnesota, Todd, Burleene State Wildlife Management Area. Large wetland complex on nearly level outwash plain eight miles southwest of Clarissa, 11 miles west of Browerville.

Habitat: Frequent quite locally in wet aspen forest that forms a broad ecotone between a forested upland rise and the surrounding wet meadow. Partial shade to partial sun beneath an interrupted canopy of mature Populus tremuloides, and a patchy, tall understory of Populus tremuloides, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, and Salix discolor. Wet loamy-organic soil. Loose colony of multi-stemmed plants, many browsed by deer.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Cirsium muticum, Equisetum arvense, Rubus pubescens, Zizia aurea, Carex stricta, Viburnum trilobum, Cornus racemosa.
