Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Sundial Lake Primitive Management Area. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain east of White Feather Lake, west of the Beartrap River, 17 miles north-northwest of Ely, in a small peatland southwest of Sundial Lake.

Habitat: Occasional in black spruce bog surrounding a tiny (1/4-acre) bog pond. Patchy canopy of stunted Picea mariana. Partial sun. Deep, saturated peat. Continuous Sphagnum carpets.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex oligosperma, Vaccinium oxycoccos, Kalmia polifolia, Ledum groenlandicum, Maianthemum trifolium, Sarracenia purpurea.
