Locality: United States, Minnesota, Otter Tail, Eastern State Wildlife Management Area. Extensive wetland complex surrounding North and South Maple Lakes, on level to gently rolling sandy outwash four miles northeast of Parkers Prairie, near the edge of Eastern State Wildlife Management Area.

Habitat: Infrequent to occasional in degraded wet meadow, hardwood swamp, and tamarack swamp settings. Full sun to shaded by Fraxinus nigra, Betula papyrifera, and Ulmus americana. Moist peat. Purple ray flowers. Typically in areas dominated by either Carex lacustris or Phalaris arundinacea.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Eupatorium maculatum, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Rumex orbiculatus, Mentha arvensis, Thelypteris palustris.
