Habitat:
Occasional to locally frequent in mesic hardwood forest dominated by Tilia americana, Quercus rubra, Q. macrocarpa, and Populus tremuloides. Patchy, tall understory includes Ostrya virginiana and Ulmus americana. Loamy-sand with a thick sandy-loam cap.
