Locality:
United States, Minnesota, Cook, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Moderately rugged bedrock terrain along the Canadian border 42 miles northwest of Grand Marais, on a small (~1/4-acre) island in Saganaga Lake, between Voyageurs and Blueberry Islands.

Habitat:
Quite local. Dense infestation here on small Picea mariana trees, in a sparsely-treed bedrock woodland. Partial shade beneath a patchy canopy of Pinus strobus. Thick moss carpets dominated by Pleurozium schreberi. Many dead black spruce trees here, apparently killed by this dwarf mistletoe infestation. "Witches' brooms" are present on many trees, both live and dead.
