Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain south of Snowbank Lake, 21 miles east-northeast of Ely, near the southeastern shore of Parent Lake.

Habitat: Quite local on a broad, low, gently-sloping point. Loose clumps and small patches in small, moist depressions in what is an otherwise rather dry conifer woodland. Shaded beneath a canopy of mature Picea mariana and Pinus banksiana. A patchy understory includes Alnus incana locally. Growing in small pockets of moist organic soil.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex brunnescens, C. intumescens, Trientalis borealis, Cornus canadensis, Spinulum annotinum, Ledum groenlandicum.
