Habitat:
In a quite extensive rock outcrop complex. Several robust clumps in shallow moist depressions in the granitic rock (migmatite). Growing amongst mats of Polytrichum juniperinum and Cladina spp. that cover the bare rock. Full sun to partial shade of young Pinus banksiana, regenerating from a major wildfire (in 1996).
