Local in a small black spruce bog, in a small bedrock depression atop a broad bedrock ridge. Patchy canopy of mature Picea mariana. Small clumps, aggregated into loose patches. Moist peat. Continuous Sphagnum carpets.
Additional associates include Gaultheria hispidula, Ledum groenlandicum, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Vaccinium angustifolium, Carex magellanica, C. trisperma, C. pauciflora.
