Locality:
United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Moderately rugged bedrock terrain east of Snowbank Lake, 22 miles east-northeast of Ely, near the western end of Disappointment Lake, along the portage to Parent Lake.

Habitat:
Local. Shaded beneath a canopy of Betula papyrifera, Fraxinus nigra, and Abies balsamea. Understory of Acer spicatum, Abies balsamea, and Ilex verticillata. Silty-organic soil in a moist upland setting, where the trail crosses a small creek. Loose clumps, aggregated into small patches.
