Uncommon and quite local in poor sedge fen. Small patches, on very buoyant wet peat within a few feet of the lake. Mostly in settings that appear too wet for Sphagnum mosses. Full sun.
Associates include Rhynchospora fusca, Carex limosa, C. lasiocarpa, Drosera intermedia, Utricularia intermedia, U. minor, U. cornuta, Scheuchzeria palustris, Xyris montana.
