Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to moderately rugged bedrock terrain east of Snowbank Lake, 27 miles east-northeast of Ely. In the western portion of Ima Lake, ~1/3 mile east of the portage to Jordan Lake.

Elevation: 457 meters
Verbatim Elevation: 1500 feet
Habitat: Very local on the shore of a small (1/2-acre) island. Coarse, wet sand on the very gently sloping southern shore of this nearly level bedrock island. A moderately dense patch with hundreds of fertile culms, within a few inches of the water line (both above and below it presently). Full sun to partial shade of Pinus strobus.
Associated Species: Associates include Myrica gale, Carex viridula, C. utriculata, Juncus pelocarpus.
